Is it bad to visit the dark sites of travel destinations?

Have you ever ask yourself if you are one of those people who would like to visit the districts of a city where homeless and poor people live or visit a place with a sad historical background? If the answer is yes, then you can see yourself as a “Poor tourist”, a “Dark Tourist” or both.

9/11 Memorial and Auschwitz

As you may know I am currently Traveller the world and visiting many different countries. Especially nowadays tourism plays an important role for our society. The term “Dark Tourism” is especially used for tourism that involves travelling to places associated with death, suffering and tragedy, for example Ground Zero in New York or Auschwitz. For me personally it was amazing to experience all these places in real life and the suffering that the people had to wear to be able to understand more. I can recommend it in any case, because I have learned a lot in addition.
